CHALLENGE CATEGORY #1: Small Transportable Cryogenic Containment Systems

Target: a small footprint system or combination of systems that enable(s) transportation of lunar samples at constant cryogenic temperatures (-150°C or colder) across multiple NASA vehicles on the journey from the Moon to Earth.

CHALLENGE CATEGORY #2: Innovations for Long-Term Cryogenic Stowage & Transportation

Target: in addition to holistic approaches described in Category #1, NASA has considerable interest in stepwise or component solutions with the potential to enable future cryogenic systems for one or more stages of the process. Challenge Category #2 therefore seeks to identify those technologies which can either provide incremental cryogenic solutions or which may have significant value developing and enabling future small, low-power cryogenic systems.
